Dental Google Ads Management for Sydney Clinics

Tangentek runs dental Google Ads for Sydney clinics: Search campaigns built around the treatments you want more of, calls and bookings tracked properly, ad copy that respects AHPRA rules, and landing pages made for the click. You see what each enquiry cost, not just how many clicks you bought.

  • Campaigns built by treatment
  • Calls and bookings tracked
  • AHPRA-aware ad copy
  • Plain-English monthly report

Quick answer

How do Google Ads work for a dental clinic?

You bid on the searches patients make when they are ready to book, and you pay when someone clicks. For a Sydney clinic the money is in a short list of high-intent searches (emergency dentist, dental implants, Invisalign, new patient check-up) in the suburbs you actually serve, sent to a page built for that one treatment, with every call and booking counted. Everything outside that list is mostly waste.

  1. 01Intent-first keywords, not "dentist" on broad match
  2. 02One campaign and one landing page per treatment
  3. 03Calls and online bookings tracked as conversions
  4. 04Ad copy checked against AHPRA advertising rules
  5. 05A budget you set, reported in plain English

The problem

Why most dental Google Ads accounts waste money

We review a lot of clinic ad accounts. The same five problems come up again and again, and each one quietly burns budget while the dashboard still shows clicks.

01

Broad keywords bring the wrong clicks

One campaign on a broad keyword like "dentist" gets matched to job seekers, dental students, denture repair and suburbs you do not serve. Without a negative keyword list that is checked against the search terms report, a real share of spend never had a chance of becoming a patient.

02

Every ad lands on the homepage

Someone searching "emergency dentist" or "Invisalign cost" wants that answer in one step, and a homepage makes them hunt. A treatment-specific page converts better and helps Quality Score, which feeds into your click price. See how we build them on our dental website design and landing page design pages.

03

Only clicks are measured

Most dental enquiries arrive as phone calls. If calls and booking-button clicks are not counted as conversions, you cannot tell which keywords produce patients, and automated bidding has nothing useful to learn from. Our conversion rate benchmarks show why tracking comes first.

04

Ad copy that creates AHPRA risk

Google Ads are advertising under the National Law, so "best dentist in Sydney", outcome promises, patient quotes and loose use of the word "specialist" are risks in a headline just as much as on a website.

05

Targeting all of Sydney, all day

Default location settings can include people who only show interest in an area, and a clinic in Chatswood has little use for clicks from Liverpool. Suburbs, location options, ad schedules and phone hours need to match how your practice really works.

What we run

What our dental Google Ads management includes

Every account follows the same foundation. Treatment-level structure, conversion tracking, AHPRA-aware copy and a landing page that matches the ad are not optional extras.

Campaigns built around treatments, not keywords in a pile

We split the account by what the patient wants, so each campaign gets its own budget, ads and landing page, and you can see which treatments actually fill the diary. We start with Search, where purchase intent sits, and add other campaign types only once the data supports them.

  • Emergency dentist
  • Dental implants
  • Invisalign and clear aligners
  • Teeth whitening
  • Veneers and cosmetic
  • New patient check-up
  • Root canal and crowns
  • Children's dentistry
  • Wisdom teeth

Conversion tracking that counts calls and bookings

Call reporting on call assets, booking-button and form events through Google Tag Manager and GA4, imported into Google Ads so optimisation follows enquiries and not clicks.

Weekly search term and negative keyword review

We read what people actually typed, block the waste and promote the phrases that turn into bookings.

AHPRA-aware ad copy

Headlines, descriptions and assets written to be factual and benefit-led, with a compliance check before anything goes live.

Suburb, location option and schedule control

Targeting set to people in your catchment, suburbs weighted to your real patient mix, and call assets shown when reception can answer.

Landing pages that match the ad

Each treatment campaign points to a page that answers that search, with a booking action visible on a phone.

Plain-English monthly reporting

Spend, calls, bookings, cost per enquiry by treatment, and what we are changing next. No vanity metrics, and everything is visible in your own Google Ads account.

Compliance

Google Ads are advertising under AHPRA rules

The National Law's advertising rules apply to anything a registered practitioner publishes to attract patients, including search ads, ad assets and the landing page behind them. Google approving an ad does not mean it meets AHPRA's rules. This is general information, not legal advice.

Read our AHPRA advertising rules guide for the full checklist, and see dental SEO for the organic side.

What puts a clinic at risk

  • Testimonials and review quotes in ads. Quoting or promoting patient feedback about clinical care in an ad, a sitelink or a landing page counts as advertising a testimonial.
  • "Best", "leading", "guaranteed" or "painless". Superlatives and outcome promises can mislead or create unrealistic expectations.
  • Titles you do not hold. You can bid on "orthodontist near me", but the ad text must not call a general dentist an orthodontist or a specialist.
  • Offers without terms. Discounts, gifts and free consultations must state their terms and conditions, and must not encourage unnecessary treatment.

What we write instead

  • Facts patients can use. Treatment, suburb, opening hours, availability and how to book, in plain wording.
  • Credentials that are accurate. Registration categories are checked before any title appears in an ad or asset.
  • Offers with terms stated. Any offer carries its conditions on the landing page, and we flag risky promotions before launch.
  • Proof that points to Google. Reviews stay on your Google profile, where we help you manage them. See Google Business Profile for dentists.

A keyword is not a claim. Bidding on a search term says nothing about who you are. A general dentist can legitimately show an ad to someone searching "braces Sydney", as long as the ad describes orthodontic treatment accurately and does not use a protected title. The same rule shapes how we build orthodontist websites.

Account structure

How we structure a dental Google Ads account

A clear structure is what lets you read the results. Each branch answers one question: what are we advertising, who are we reaching, and how do we know it worked?

Opening a clinic or adding a chair? Ads can start producing enquiries within days of launch, while dental SEO and your Google Business Profile build the visibility you keep.

Choosing a channel

Google Ads, Google Maps or dental SEO: which first?

Patients see all three on one results page. They do different jobs, cost differently and pay back on different timelines. Most clinics end up using two or all three.

Process

How we set up and run your dental Google Ads

We start with the foundations, then run the account weekly. Nothing goes live until tracking and copy have been checked.

  1. Free · no payment

    Account and goals review

We look at your current account (or the market, if you have none), your treatments, capacity and the value of a new patient. Then we agree what a good enquiry is worth to you.

  2. Tracking

    Conversion tracking first

Before any budget is spent we set up call reporting, booking and form events in Tag Manager and GA4, and test them end to end.

  3. Build

    Structure, copy and landing pages

Campaigns by treatment, keyword and negative lists, AHPRA-aware ads, and a landing page that matches each ad group.

  4. Launch

    Launch and learn

We start with controlled budgets and read search terms closely in the first weeks, because that is where most early waste is found.

  5. Optimise

    Weekly care, monthly report

Bids, budgets, copy and pages are adjusted from real enquiries, and you get a plain-English report you can read in five minutes.

Launch time depends on how ready your tracking and landing pages are. If you do not have treatment pages yet, the quickest route is to build them with your website or on a focused landing page. For wider builds, see our website development service.

How much does Google Ads cost for a dental clinic in Sydney?
There are two costs: your ad spend, which you set and which Google bills to your account, and our management fee, which we quote in AUD before you start. Click prices in Sydney dentistry are high because many clinics compete for the same searches, and our Google Ads vs SEO guide shows typical ranges. The right budget depends on your treatments, catchment and how many new patients you can take.
How many new patients will Google Ads bring?
No one can honestly promise a number. What we can do is estimate from search demand in your catchment, your website conversion rate and your click cost, then track real calls and bookings so the estimate is replaced by facts within the first weeks.
Is Google Ads better than SEO for a dental clinic?
Neither is better. They do different jobs. Ads can produce enquiries within days but stop when you stop paying, while dental SEO takes months and keeps working when spend drops. Most clinics benefit from both, starting with whichever fits the diary and the budget.
Can dentists use "best dentist" or "guaranteed" in Google Ads?
No. AHPRA's advertising rules treat superlatives, outcome guarantees and claims that create unrealistic expectations as risks, and they apply to ad text and assets as well as your website. We write factual, benefit-led copy instead. Check the current AHPRA advertising rules for your situation.
Can we show patient reviews or star ratings in our ads?
We do not recommend it. Testimonials about clinical care are restricted in advertising by regulated practitioners, so we keep review quotes out of ad text, assets and landing pages and point people to your Google profile instead. See Google Business Profile for dentists for how we handle reviews.
Do you track phone calls and online bookings?
Yes. We set up call reporting on call assets, plus booking-button clicks, tap-to-call clicks and form submissions as conversions in GA4 and Google Ads. What we cannot see is what happens inside your practice software, so we agree a simple way to match enquiries to new patients.
Which treatments should we advertise first?
Usually the ones that combine high patient value, real search demand and spare capacity. Emergency appointments, implants, clear aligners and cosmetic work are common starting points. We check demand in your suburbs before choosing, and we do not advertise treatments you cannot take on.
How long before Google Ads start working?
Ads can show and produce clicks within days. The first weeks are about learning: reading search terms, cutting waste and tightening copy. Expect the account to look different at week six than at week one.
Can you run Google Ads for an orthodontic or specialist practice?
Yes. Specialist practices have the same compliance duties plus one more: the specialist title has to match the registration. We handle that in the ad copy and on the page behind it. See our orthodontist website design page.
Do we own the Google Ads account?
Yes. We build and run campaigns inside an account under your ownership, so you keep the data, the history and the access if we ever part ways.
Do I need a new website before running ads?
Not always, but the page behind the ad decides your conversion rate. If your site has no treatment pages or is slow on mobile, we will say so and recommend either focused landing pages or a dental website rebuild.

Quick answers

What does dental Google Ads management include?

Treatment-level Search campaigns, conversion tracking for calls and bookings, negative keyword and search term reviews, AHPRA-aware ad copy, suburb and schedule controls, landing page recommendations and a monthly plain-English report.

Do AHPRA rules apply to Google Ads?

Yes. Ads count as advertising, so patient testimonials about clinical care, outcome guarantees, misleading claims and titles you do not hold must be avoided in ad text, assets and landing pages.

Should a dentist run Google Ads or SEO?

Most clinics benefit from both. Ads can produce enquiries within days and stop when budget stops. Dental SEO takes months and keeps working. The right starting point depends on your diary, budget and competition.
